![]() ![]() ![]() Torchbearers aren't really mentioned after the first two campaigns in the base game. These races make up a key part of the games history and universe if future races are added, there is a. The "good" specialization that came with Shadowborn and Greyguard in Eternal Lords is actually called Keeper of the Peace. 18 races exist in AoWs lore: the 9 in Age of Wonders 3 (6 in the base game, 1 from the Golden Realms expansion, and 2 more in the Eternal Lords expansion), and another 9 that only exist in previous instalments of the series. In the Necromancer campaign, the main dude can choose to have the Greyguard or Shadowborn specializations before the last map begins. The Greyguards are neutral and don't really get the campaign treatment. Roger is a character from the Golden Realms campaign. He goes from Theocrat to Necromancer, which is kinda cool, though. You can see that still in dialog during the AOW3 campaigns but really that just happened within a few lines, like Roger being seduced to the "dark side" or whatever. ![]() But yeah, bad forces were on that side trying to get a Wizard to open the rift gates from the wizards' side. In AOW2: Shadow Magic, the shadow realm halved all stats unless you buffed the units. The Torchbearers are trying to unite the races, then end up trying to stop the Shadowborn from opening those rift gates. Also ham maybe allies with you because he's trying to do the same thing. In the campaigns, the Shadowborn are trying to open Rift Gates to the shadow realm, but yea, the goal is power. I chose to ally with melenis, but i think the loyalist option has you kill both melenis and werlac. That means wiping out Melenis right? since she wants to destroy the world + the shadowgate. will proceed to stay loyal to the queen then. If you choose to be evil, you should either pick a neutral specialization, or Shadowborn, which requires you to be evil to keep them happy. I chose shadowborn myself in map 2 and then killed werlac anyway. One of your specializations is Keeper of Peace, which has a technology making all your heroes Dedicated to Good. I don't think choosing shadowborn or grey guard at the end of map 2 makes any difference in the story, i guess they just let you try whichever spec you want. Both helping melenis or werlac will probably lead to the end of the world. I think the canonical ending is that in which you side with frostlings and stay a loyalist to the queen.
